Matchday 8 of the Spanish La Liga kicks off tonight and matches are spread throughout the weekend up untill Monday.
The clubs played their matchday 7 games in midweek and those who lost will aim to return to winning ways as the winners will seek to keep the momentum.
On Friday, Third-placed Barcelona entertain Sevilla who are 12th in the table having started the league with three consecutive defeats. The Catalan giants have the chance to spend the night atop if they get the win over Sevilla.
Sevilla were 5-1 winners against Almeria in midweek and will have to keep that firepower if they want to get something off Barcelona, who recorded a 2-all draw against 10-men Real Mallorca on Tuesday.
On Saturday, a wild top-of-the-table affair comes between surprise table leaders Girona and second-placed Real Madrid.
Girona are in the form of their lives! They have won six of their opening matches of the season but now face a real test in Real Madrid, who are behind them by just a point.
A win for Girona will open up a four-point gap between themselves and Carlo Ancelotti’s men while a win for Los Blancos will take them back to the top of the table.
Atletico Madrid, who recorded a 2-0 victory over Osasuna on Thursday night host Cadiz at the Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday. Atletico have a game in hand but don’t want to rely on that so they are aiming to collect maximum points from the matches played.
