The international break is done and dusted and the Spanish La Liga is back with matchday 5 kicking off this evening.
Rayo Valecano in 12th will host 10th placed Alaves as they hope to return to winning ways having lost the two previous matches.
On Saturday, Atletico Madrid, who have a game in hand visit Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium in a match that will help them keep tabs with city rivals Real Madrid.
Diego Simeone’s men are fourth on the table and are expected to get all three points against a Valencia side that have lost the past two games after starting the season with two consecutive wins.
Defending champions Barcelona will be home to play Real Mallorca on Saturday evening. The Catalan giants don’t want to go far behind leaders Real Madrid so they are expected to come back to Catalonia with all three points. Mallorca haven’t won a single La Liga match this season, and the best they have managed are draws on matchday 1 and 4.
On Sunday, Real Madrid, who are the only club with a 100% run in La Liga this season, want to keep this winning streak going when they host Real Sociedad at the refurbished Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Blancos have Jude Bellingham to thank for their great start to the season and expect the Englishman to lead his teammates to three points against Sociedad, who are surprisingly still unbeaten as well.
Second-placed Girona will round up the matchday on Monday night against Granada.
