In a bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League, English Premier League side Leeds United have sacked manager Javi Gracia
This was announced on Wednesday morning by the Club in a statement released on their website.
Gracia, who was appointed as Leeds manager in February leaves the club in 17th position having won just three of his 12 games in charge, conceding 28 goals in total.
Gracia’s final match in charge was against Bournemouth on Sunday which saw his side lose 4-1.
Before that game, his side had suffered heavy defeats to Liverpool (6-1), Crystal Palace (5-1) and Arsenal (4-1)
The club has now immediately appointed Sam Allardyce as their new manager till the end of the season.
The 68-year old will be assisted by former MK Dons, Charlton United and Oxford United manager Karl Robinson for the remaining four games of the season, where Leeds have a difficult run-in.
The pair’s first game in charge will be against Manchester City On Saturday at Elland Road.
Allardyce who becomes Leeds fourth manager this season after Jess Marsch, Michael Skubala and Gracia, has been out of management since the end of the 2020/21 season when he was relegated with West Bromwich.
“It took me two second to say yes to this job” Allardyce told Talksport after being appointed by Leeds
“I was shocked, I never thought at this stage of the season this would happen. I thought there would be no jobs
“I could have done with more time, but we’ve got four games and hopefully I can keep this fabulous club in the Premier League.
“We can only do what we can try and achieve, from my point of view, that is stopping the goals from going in.
“We’ve conceded 28 goals in the last 10 or 12 games and that has to stop if we’re going to get out of trouble. We’re needing to score three goals every game to win.
“If we’re left to do that, that will be impossible. I’m doing all I can with the staff to try and get the players out of trouble.”
