Liverpool captain Jordan Handerson has verbally agreed a lucrative contract with Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq that is going to be managed by former teammate Steven Gerrard.
The contract, according to The Athletic, is three years, and Henderson will reportedly earn a whopping £700,000 per week. Henderson earns £200,000 per week at Liverpool so Al Ettifaq’s contract is more than triple his current wages.
Henderson has spent 12 years at Anfield, but this deal is too good to turn down, and it is now up to Liverpool to decide to sell and then set a price for the transfer.
Al Ettifaq have not yet officially opened talks with Liverpool, and it is understood that Liverpool want the highest fee possible for the England international. Henderson still has two years left on his contract which expires on June 30, 2025.
Since joining Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011 in a deal worth £20 million, Henderson has made 492 appearances, scoring 33 goals and setting up 61 in all competitions. Last season, Henderson played 43 matches.
He has won everything that is there to win at Liverpool, especially since becoming club captain in 2015 after the departure of Steven Gerrard.
The 33-year-old is the latest Liverpool player to be targeted by a Saudi club, with teammate Fabinho also being targeted by Al Ittihad.
