Liverpool came from a goal down to beat Wolves 3-1 at Molineux Stadium thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo, Andy Robertson and an own goal from Hugo Bueno.
The win propelled the Reds to the top of the table momentarily as they await results from Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur who play later.
Wolves took the early lead in the 7th minute through Hwang Hee-chan who completed a quick counterattack that ended with Pedro squaring the ball to the South Korean.
This was just the second start for the 27-year-old South Korea international, who has struggled to get into Wolves’ starting 11.
Liverpool, having lost the same fixture 3-0 last season at this venue, tried their best to avoid a repeat this time by mounting more pressure on Wolves. However, they failed to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes and Wolves went into the halftime break leading.
In the second half though, Jurgen Klopp’s men came with the same intensity and it took them just 10 minutes to level matters through Cody Gakpo.
Mohamed Salah cut a path around the right edge of the box and tipped the low ball through to the Dutchman who made no mistake but tuck the ball home past Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.
The match stayed level until five minutes from time when Salah registered his second assist of the match by setting up Andy Robertson to score from close range. Sa had made a save prior to this but was second time unlucky.
This was Salah’s 200th goal involvement (139G, 61A) in 223 Premier League appearances. Only Arsenal legend Thierry Henry reached that mark in fewer matches (206).
All hopes of a Wolves equalizer were put to bed in the first minute of added time when Hugo Bueno deflected Harvey Elliot’s shot into his own net to take the score line to 3-1. This was Liverpool’s fourth consecutive win this season and Wolves’ second consecutive loss.
