Jurgen Klopp’s agent Marc Kosicke has insisted that the Liverpool manager is in no way considering the option to take over as Germany’s football team manager.
There have been several reports linking Klopp to the position that is currently occupied by the under-fire manager Hansi Flick.
“Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool. And [Germany] has a national coach. So it’s not an issue for us at all.” Kisicke told German sports publication Bild.
The Germans suffered their latest defeat on Tuesday this week, losing 2-0 at home to Colombia, which took their poor run of form to just one win in the last five matches, and three if we extend that to the last 11 matches including the FIFA World Cup group matches in Qatar last year.
It should be noted that Germany failed to advance to the knockout stage of the World Cup in one of the worst displays for the four-time winners in recent years.
Flick took over from 2014 World Cup winner Joachim Low in 2021 but he is under pressure due to his team’s performance, so much so that former Germany international Dietmar ‘Didi’ Hamann called for his immediate sacking.
In case Flick is sacked, the news is Klopp won’t be his replacement as his agent insists he is looking forward to seeing out his three years left on his contract with Liverpool.
Klopp missed out on Champions League football for the first time since joining Liverpool after finishing 5th in the Premier League table last season.
