Liverpool have rejected a verbal offer from the Saudi Pro League to sign their attacker Mohamed Salah.
According to Sky Sports, the proposal came from Al Ittihad and it is worth a mouthwatering fee of £100 million that will rise to £150 million with add-ons.
Salah has been on Al Ittihad’s radar for the past month or so but Liverpool have always insisted that their Egyptian King is not for sale. As such, the Reds rejected Al Ittihad’s offer without even any kind of consideration.
Salah, who signed a new contract with the Reds last summer and earns £350,000 per week, scored 30 goals for Liverpool in all competitions last season where the club underperformed and missed out on Champions League football for the first time since 2015.
Although his salary is the biggest at Liverpool, Al Ittihad have promised Salah a weekly wage of £1.5 million, should he make the switch to the oil-rich desert country that has shopped for top talent all over Europe this transfer window.
When asked about Salah leaving today, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: “The position remains the same, absolutely. No doubt about that. We cannot (sell Salah). That’s how it is. Nothing else to say.”
Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas also ruled out the possibility of Salah leaving Liverpool this summer early last month. The Premier League transfer window closes tonight at 11 pm UK time but the Saudi Pro League window is still open until September 7.
Should Liverpool and Salah be tempted with this money and change their mind and give this deal the green light, Liverpool will have to act fast and sign a replacement but as things stand, the 31-year-old is staying at Anfield.
