In a window where several stars have been persuaded with mouthwatering offers to move to the Saudi Arabian Pro League, only a few players have turned down such offers.
One such player is Liverpool midfielder, Thiago Alcantara. Thiago is the subject of serious interest from Saudi Arabia as he enters his final year of contract at Anfield but he has other plans.
Sources close to Thiago’s camp say that a yet-to-be-named Saudi club approached him and his representatives with an offer away from Liverpool but he turned it down.
The club did not submit any official bids to Liverpool and no other offers have come in for the Spaniard from any other club.
The 32-year-old intends to stay at Liverpool for next season and manager Jurgen Klopp is planning for the campaign ahead with him on board.
It remains to be seen whether an improved offer leads to a change of his heart in the coming weeks and whether Liverpool would let him leave at a fee instead of letting him go at the end of next season as a free agent.
Liverpool said goodbye to midfielders Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the end of last season and recently signed Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig and World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion.
