Following the sacking of Graham Potter as head coach of Chelsea, the club hierarchy has already identified his replacement as Luis Enrique until the end of the season, according to multiple sources.
The sources are claiming that the former Spain coach is set to travel to London to close the Chelsea deal on Wednesday.
But according to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are also still considering Julian Naglelsmann who is also unemployed following his recent sacking from Bayern Munich.
Chelsea sacked Graham Potter following a streak of disappointing results but their 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday proved to be the catalyst for the final blow.
His bosses expected much more than what he delivered. The club spent in excess 500 million pounds on new signings, but there was nothing to show for the expenditure.
The American ownership group paid around 2.5 billion pounds to aquire the London Club but their huge investment is yet to produce desired results.
Chelsea is set to meet the reigning champions Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, and if they get Enrique, he will also have to face an uphill task of going past the team he knows very well having faced off against the side as a Barcelona coach.
He will also have the task of guiding the Blues out of the 11th position in the English Premier League to Champions League qualification positions which seems to be harder than going through a brick wall.
Enrique previously expressed his interest in getting a job in the Premier League when his time with the national team ended after the disappointing world cup exit in Qatar, but he emphasized that he wanted a club with title winning ambitions.
The Spanish tactician formerly coached Barcelona in 2017 before taking up the job for the national side and he is now more likely to return to club football in England.
