Spain’s head coach Luis de la Fuente praised his team’s camaraderie as they secured Euro 2024 qualification.
La Roja sealed their qualification on Saturday evening after beating Norway 1-0 at Ullevaal Stadion, Oslo courtesy of Gavi’s second half strike.
That goal and victory fired Spain to top of Group A to grant them automatic qualification to Germany next year.
After the game, De la Fuente was asked about the game. He said his players showed real grit to secure qualification with two games to spare.
“We remember everything we have experienced in qualification. Issues and details have been corrected, but the script remained the same.
“We have been united and that shows. A lot of work has been done to get to this position. Qualification is an obligation and a responsibility, nothing more.”
After losing to Scotland back in March in their first group game, Spain have won all their group games and scored the second most goals in the qualifiers.
Spain will hope to finish the campaign top of the log when they face Cyprus and Georgia next month. They currently have the same points as Scotland (15), who sit second on the log on goal difference.
For Scotland, they will play Norway and Georgia in their last two games before the finals.
