Harry Maguire and Andre Onana were the heroes on Tuesday evening as Manchester United beat FC Copenhagen to earn their first UEFA Champions League points this season.
Maguire scored the game’s winner while Onana saved a penalty at the death to ensure United won the game 1-0 at Old Trafford.
United were second best in the opening half as they lacked ideas to create goalscoring chances.
Infact they almost went behind in the 23rd minute, but got helped by the crossbar following Diogo Goncalves effort.
United’s best chance of getting an opener came at almost the end of the opening half, but Scott McTominay headed wide from six yards after Sergio Regulion’s brilliant cross.
After the break, the first goalscoring opportunity went to the visitors after Lerager on the edge of the box hit towards the top corner, but Onana made a super save to keep the ball out.
After conceding that attempt, United improved and started playing much better. They got rewarded with 18 minutes left on the clock after Maguire nodded in at the back post after Christian Eriksen sent a half-cleared ball back into the box.
Moments later, United almost made it 2-0, but Garbara made a wonderful stop to deny Alejandro Garnacho, who was set up by McTominay.
Before the end of the game, there was some late drama as Copenhagen got rewarded with a spot-kick following a McTominay challenge, but Onana came out top to deny Jordan Larson and ensure United won the game.
United have now secured their first UCL victory of the season and now move third on log with three points in three games.
For Copenhagen, they drop bottom of the log with a single point in their three games.
