Manchester United legend Roy Kean says United players have adopted a bad habit of thinking they possess quality to always turn games around which could cost them the FA Cup.
The Red Devils have on several occasions gotten their games off on the back foot, but have always found a way of turning things around, with their boss Erik Ten Hag especially making impactful substitutions to turn games around.
It is a thing that seems to be working well for them, but their former captain thinks it could well work against them as luck could elude them at some point. In this case, he referenced to Brighton who have already beaten the Old Trafford outfit this season.
Speaking to the club website, Kean said: “I’ve lost that little bit of confidence watching them now. A month or two ago you are thinking, yeah, listen, they’re up for it, but in the cup, the last few games they just have a real habit of trying to play in moments.
“That’s ok every now and again, but it just seems to be their DNA at the moment. I think they have got into some real bad habits and it’s as if they’re turning up today expecting we’ve got quality players and Manchester United are gonna win football matches.
“But if they turn up with that attitude for the semi-final, Brighton will beat them. It gives them a bit of a kick up the backside.”
Man United have gotten away with chasing games after falling behind as witnessed in their games against Leeds, Barcelona, West Ham and Fulham, but perhaps the players should heed to Keane’s plea and not make it a routine.
