The unfriendly friendly match between old time rivals Manchester United and Arsenal played at the MetLife Stadium in the USA ended with the Red Devils beating the Gunners twice.
Manchester United emerged 2-0 victors in the normal 90 minutes of the match thanks to goals from new club captain Bruno Fernandez in the 30th minute and Jadon Sancho in the 37th minute.
Arsenal enjoyed more ball possession in the second half of the match but failed to score a single goal or even cause major threats to Manchester United’s defence.
After the 90 minutes, the two clubs faced each other in a penalty shootout and Man United emerged victors, again, with a 5-3 scoreline.
Arsenal’s Fabio Vieira sent his penalty kick way over the bar while United scored all five.
This was one of the matches Premier League clubs are playing in the USA as part of their preseason tour.
Although these matches may not mean much, they give the managers the opportunity to test their tactics, systems and new players ahead of the new season. It also gives fans preseason bragging rights.
Arsenal will wind up their USA tour with a friendly match against Barcelona on Thursday, July 27, while Manchester United will play Wrexham on Wednesday, and Real Madrid on Thursday.
