Aymeric Laporte’s time at Manchester City could be over as the treble winners reportedly accepted an undisclosed offer from Saudi Arabian Pro League club Al-Nassr.
According to Sky Sports, Al Nassr have moved quickly to seal a deal for the Spaniard and add him to their star-studded squads that include Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic and Alex Telles.
Laporte struggled to get game time at Manchester City last season Due to Nathan Ake’s form. The 29-year-old has travelled with Manchester City’s squad to face Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup in Greece later today.
Laporte has been part of Manchester City’s squad that has won all five Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola since arriving from Athletic Bilbao in January 2018.
However, with Ake Still the preferred first choice for manager Pep Guardiola and the arrival of Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig, a move away from Etihad Stadium looks like the logical solution for him to get game time.
Laporte, who still has two years left on his Manchester City contract, now has to accept personal terms with Al Nassr, and then take a medical test before putting pen to paper.
Saudi Arabia has been a go-to place for players this summer partly due to the huge salaries its clubs offer, but also a guarantee of game time.
