Manchester United have moved up to third on the English Premier League log after defeating Nottingham Forrest 2-0 in the game played at the City Grounds on Sunday.
Anthony scored a first half opener for the Red Devils before Diogo Dalot scoring in the second half to ensure United secured their first away victory in four games.
Coming into the game having lost two away games in a row, United started off the game brightly and as early as the first minute they could have been ahead, but Felipe made a goal line block to deny Jadon Sancho.
After that early chance, United continued to create chance after chance only to be denied by Navas.
The former PSG goalkeeper produced a brilliant save to deny Sancho before doing the same thing in denying Bruno Fernandes.
Forest’s first realistic goalscoring chance came after 24 minutes when Scott McKenna rose highest at the back post to head in Morgan Gibbs-White corner, but his effort struck the post.
Forest came close again through Danilo who had his low strike at goal tipped out by David De gea.
With 32 minutes on the clock though, United took the lead through Antony who was first to react on Martial initial effort which was saved by Navas. The Brazilian calmly put the ball into an empty net at the back post.
Before the break, Forest had a couple of attempts to put the game level but Taiwo Awonyi and Gibbs White missed the target.
Fernandes also had an attempt to double United’s lead before the break, but the Portuguese midfielder headed wide after being found by Christian Eriksen.
After the restart, United had the first chance of the second period when Antony curled his effort just wide after a short corner by Fernandes.
Fernandes once again came close in the 56 minute, but Navas made an unbelievable save to deny the United’s playmaker.
In the next minutes, Navas continued to deny United their second as he made two excellent saves to deny both Antony and Bruno.
The Costa Rica goalkeeper was finally beaten by Dalot in the 75th minute as the fullback netted from close range after brilliant work by Antony to set him up.
The final 15 minutes of the game never had any mouth-watering action as United resorted to managing their two goals lead.
With the victory, the Ten Hag coached side move three points ahead of Newcastle, who lost to Aston Villa on Saturday.
