As we have been reporting in the past few weeks, Qatari Banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is one of the frontrunners to take over Manchester United against British Billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe of INEOS Group. The two progressed to the second stage of negotiations two weeks ago.
News reaching the Soccer Scoop desk shows that Sheikh Jassim’s delegation representing his bid to takeover Manchester United will be at the club’s headquarters in Manchester tomorrow, for a meeting.
It has also been reported by Sky Sports that Sheikh Jassim’s advisors will be part of the meeting and will, later on, visit Carrington ground, the training facility of the club. It should be noted that Sheikh Jassim’s bid to buy 100% of Manchester United includes upgrading its facilities as well as clearing out its debt.
The meeting scheduled tomorrow shows his commitment to seeing out this deal and takeover the club that has been in the hands of the Glazer Family since 2005.
The current owners put the club up for sale in November last year valued at £6 billion, but the bids received so far, especially from Sheikh Jassim and Sir Ratcliffe are a few million pounds short of £5 billion.
It is believed that a bid upwards of £5 billion, even when it is not the asking £6billion could be convincing enough for Glazers to sell.
