Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho found the back of the net against Wolverhampton Wanderers to help their side, Manchester United return to winning ways.
Coming into this game, the Red Devils had lost their last two games that saw them their chances in the Champions League qualification race affected, but after two goals from the two forwards, United move four points clear of rivals Liverpool.
Martial opened the scoring in the opening half with a close range strike after being thread through by Antony. The French forward struck the ball into the corner of the net to register his 50th Premier League goal.
Before the break, it would have been 2-0 for United if it wasn’t for Dan Bentley – the Wolves debutant who saved Martial’s curried shot
Wolves returned a different mammal after the break and fashioned several chances to tie the scores. The best fell to Diego Costa, but the former Chelsea striker’s effort was deflected wide.
Midway in the closing half, Sancho came close to doubling United’s lead but his low effort was kept out by Bentley
Casemiro also came close, but again Bertley flew himself to deny the Brazilian and keep the scores at 1-0.
But the Wolves goalkeeper, in injury time could not deny substitute Garnacho from finding the back of net to put the game to bed. The youngster received a wonderful through ball from Fernandes, used his pace to beat off Nelson Semendo before firing past the Wolves custodian – with his effort hitting both posts before going in.
With the victory, United now move to 65 points in 35 games and will play Bournemouth next.
For Wolves, they remain 13th on the log with 40 points and will play relegation-fighting Everton.
