Mason Mount has said his goodbye to Chelsea ahead of his anticipated move to Manchester United.
Through a video posted on his Instagram, the midfield announced his decision to leave the Blues, admitting it is ‘with a heavy heart’ that he leaves the club, but it’s what’s right for me at this moment of his career’.
This is after a deal worthy over £60m was agreed between Chelsea and United for Mount to move to Old Trafford.
“Given the speculation over the last six months, this may not come as a surprise to you.” Mount said on his Instagram
“But it doesn’t make it any easier to tell you that I have made the decision to leave Chelsea. I feel that you deserve more than a written statement. So I wanted to tell you directly how I feel grateful for the support over the last 18 months.
“I know some of you are not happy with my decision, but it’s what is right for me at this moment of my career
“I joined Chelsea when I was six-years-old and we have been through a lot together, winning the Youth Cup, my Player of the Year awards, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup and of course the unforgettable night when we won the Champions League… wish you all the best.”
Mount leaves Chelsea with one year left on his contract and becomes the latest senior player to leave the Stamford Bridge club this window after Mateo Kovacic, Kai Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly, Édouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus Cheek and N’Golo Kante.
His move to United is expected to be officially announced by the two clubs in the next few hours.
Mount will become United’s first signing of this window as the club prepares to play in the UEFA Champions League again this fourthcoming season.
