Chelsea recorded their first win under interim manager Frank Lampard last weekend against Bournemouth, after going through a terrible run of six successive defeats that included elimination from the Champions League.
Now, The Blues aim to keep this winning run going starting with the match against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge tomorrow, a match that means much to both teams.
Nottingham Forest sit 16th on the Premier League table three points away from safety. They are still fighting relegation so they need maximum points from this match.
On the other hand, Chelsea may have survived relegation but are still 11th on the table and they want to avoid a bottom half finish so winning the remaining four matches could help them achieve that. Chelsea last finished in the bottom half of the Premier League in the 1995/96 season.
This is an interesting match with contrasting storylines. Chelsea are winless in six home games in all competitions but they are facing a Nottingham Forest side that have lost seven successive away matches. The last time these two clubs met in January, the match ended in a 1-all draw.
In a pre-match press conference, Lampard said his team’s confidence was boosted by last weekend’s win while Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper said he loved his team’s attitude in training this week and hopes they can take that into the match against Chelsea.
