Premier League action continues on Sunday with Manchester United visiting Leeds for the reverse fixture of the game that saw the two sides share the spoils in midweek in an exciting 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.
Erik Ten Hag’s men will be hoping to return to winning ways following that draw. Should they win, they will leapfrog their “noisy” neighbours Man City for the first time this season as the Citizens will play Aston Villa later in the day.
The hosts go into this game with some positives from that Old Trafford draw. That point took them to the 16th position. They will be hoping to upset the Red Devils who travel to Elland road without their first choice midfield duo of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.
Man United have won only once in the last four league games. They will once again rely on the form of Marcus Rashford who can’t stop scoring having netted his 20th goal of the season in midweek.
The EPL player of the month of January is expected to lead the attack alongside Wout Weghorst and Alejandro Garnacho or Jadon Sancho who is likely to make his first start having impressed in Man United’s previous two games. He came off the bench on both those occasion. At Old Trafford, he netted an equaliser on Wednesday.
In the absence of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, Fred and Sabitzer will be used in the middle of the pack while the backline will be marshalled by the partnership of Rafael Varane and Lisandro Martinez with Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot playing on either flanks.
World Cup winner Martinez won the Man of the Match award on Wednesday. It is those kind of displays that have earned the Argentine praises lately. He will be looked up to as United seek to shut out their opponents.
