High-flying Manchester City will make a trip to Merseyside to play relegation-fighting Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, looking to stay on course for a treble.
This is such a crucial match for both teams as a win for Man City will move them closer to winning the Premier League for the third successive season while Everton will get closer to relegation for the first time in the Premier League era, and the first time in more than 70 years.
That said, both teams equally need the win on Sunday but it is not just about needing, they have to put up a performance that guarantees the win. Manchester City are in blistering form that has seen them go 21 matches unbeaten in all competitions including 10 consecutive wins in the Premier League.
On the other hand, Sean Dyche’s men have been scrapping for wins but finally got one last weekend against Brighton and hope that 5-1 victory can boost their confidence and rise to the challenge of the league leaders.
Everton were able to get a 1-all draw the last time these two teams met on News Year’s Eve but they will need to do more this time since Manchester City have won six successive matches at Goodison Park in all competitions. Everton’s head-to-head record against Manchester City also doesn’t help matters as they have only won once in 19 encounters.
Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has just been crowned Football Writers’ Association ( FWA) Footballer of the Year Award where he broke and set new goalscoring records and we are sure he is not about to stop.
Everton will have to work overtime to stop the Norwegian.
