Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he never expected Cole Palmer to hit the ground running so soon at Chelsea.
Since his transfer from Manchester City 24-hours to deadline day in the summer, Palmer has been involved in four goals in his first six games with Chelsea.
Palmer scored his first goal for the club on Saturday, and also came in handy with an assist as Chelsea beat Burnley 4-1.
He is quickly becoming an important piece in the Chelsea puzzle as no other player in the Premier League has created more scoring chances in the last four games than the youngster.
“Cole Palmer is a very talented player. He has the quality and he has surprised me because he arrived the day before the transfer window closed.” Pochettino said on Saturday.
“The way Cole Palmer reads the situations and what the team needs in every situation, he can be the player who can link with his team-mates.”
Pochettino will hope that Palmer and his teammates continue with this kind of form after the international break when Chelsea hosts Arsenal at the Stamford Bridge.
Before the youngster joined Chelsea, he had spent 15 years at Man City where he progressed through the academy to play for City’s senior side.
He made 25 appearances across all competitions last season and ended the campaign as a Premier League, Champions League, and an FA Cup winner.
Earlier in the season while still at City, he scored in both the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal and UEFA Super Cup victory against Sevilla.
