It looks like Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami are building a Messi and Friends squad.
Just a day after announcing the signing of midfield maestro Sergio Busquets who played with earlier signing Lionel Messi at Barcelona, reports say that Inter Miami are now chasing the signature of another former Messi teammate, Jordi Alba.
The left-back announced over a month ago that he would not complete the remaining year of his contract with Barcelona without even having any offer on the table. Now, Inter Miami have come knocking.
According to Spanish sports publication marca.com, Inter Miami officials have already made contact with Alba’s representative over a proposed move to the United States. If he accepts the proposal, he will be joining former teammates Busquets and Messi with who he played for more than a decade.
The 34-year-old spent 11 years with the Catalan giants and recently helped his nation Spain win the UEFA Nations League against Croatia. There have been reports that some Saudi Arabian clubs are also interested in securing his services.
After making contact, Marca reports that Inter Miami “intend to make an offer for Alba” in the coming days, putting into action what club managing owner Jorge Mas said a few days ago that the club would sign more players in the transfer window that opens on July 5 in the United States.
