PSG head coach Christophe Galtier has confirmed that Lionel Messi will leave the french club at the end of the season.
Galtier said this while addressing the press ahead of PSG’s final Ligue 1 match of the season against Clermont Foot.
“I had the privilege of coaching the best player in the history of football. This will be his last match at the Parc des Princes, and I hope that he will receive the warmest of welcomes.
“This year, he has been an important part of the team, always available. I don’t think any of the comments or criticisms are justified. He’s always been there for the team. It’s been a great privilege to accompany him throughout the season.”
This season,Messi has contributed 21 goals and 20 assist for PSG in all competitions.
In his two years at the club, the Argentine has played 74 games in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and recording 35 assists. Messi has also helped PSG win two Ligue 1 titles.
Messi’s next move is rumoured to be either back to Barcelona or a move to Al Hilal in UAE. Major League Soccer side Inter Miami has also expressed interest in the seven-time Ballon d’or winner.
The former Barcelona forward was earlier on this year named men’s football of the year at The Best FIFA Football Awards.
