Former France and Real Madrid forward Antonio Cassano has implored the Los Blancos not to bring Jose Mourinho back to the Santiago Bernabeu in the managerial role if they still want to compete.
Carlo Ancelotti, the current Real Madrid coach whose contract with the club expires in 2024 is rumoured to be wanted by the Brazil national team. There’s little talk of the Italian renewing his contract, but talk about the Spanish giants looking for his successor is what’s making rounds.
This is where Mourinho comes in! The Portuguese’s name is one of those rumoured to be wanted by Madrid.
The 60-year-old is not new to the Madrid folds. He took charge of the side between 2010 and 2013 as head coach, winning three trophies including Laliga in the 2011/12 season. Not a terrible return for a man whose side was competing against arguably the best Barcelona side in history, but Cassano says his hay days are past him therefore the Los Blancos should not even think about re-employing him.
“He can return to Real Madrid if Ancelotti does not continue, but if Los Blancos want a coach, they will not call Mourinho for their new project. Mou doesn’t give a sh*t about football. He doesn’t like to work, he doesn’t know how to communicate or speak, let’s not be fooled by his story.”
Not very kind words from the Frenchman, and that’s not all. He continues to say; “I don’t know how he achieves those results, because it’s just cinema. He was a great coach, but right now he can train Real Madrid, as he can also train San Martines.”
It should be remembered that Mourinho has won major trophies with some of the Big clubs in Europe including Madrid, Porto, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Manchester United and Roma. Some of those trophies include the most prestigious, the Champions League which he won twice with Porto and Inter.
His most recent trophy is the UEFA Europa Conference League he won with his current club Roma last season.
Roma currently sit fifth in the Serie A table with 50 points, level on points with Inter placed fourth and just one behind AC Milan seated third.
