The Premier League has announced that they will stage a six-team Summer series in the United States of America come July.
This tournament will take place across five Eastern cities of the United States between July 22-30.
“We are delighted to be bringing six clubs to the USA in July for the first-ever Premier League Summer Series,” Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said before adding;
“Our clubs have incredible supporters in the U.S., who passionately follow their teams throughout the season. We have seen this dedication first-hand from the tens of thousands who have attended our Mornings Live fan events and are excited to be building on this by bringing live Premier League action to five cities this summer.”
“We are currently enjoying one of the most competitive Premier League seasons of all time at both ends of the table and I am sure we will see some thrilling matches during the tournament.”
Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle, Brentford, Leicester City and Aston Villa will participate in these first-ever series in the USA.
The opening game will see Chelsea take on Brighton at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on July 22, while at the same venue on the following day, Fulham will face Brentford and Newcastle will take on Aston Villa.
Three games will the be played on July 26th with Brentford battling Brighton in Atlanta, Fulham taking on Villa in Orlando while Chelsea will play Newcastle in the late game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
On July 28th, Brighton will play Newcastle at the Red Bulls Arena in Harrison while Villa versus Brentford and Chelsea against Fulham will take place on July 30 at FedEx Field in Maryland.
This tournament will be used by the Premier League teams to prepare for the 2023-24 season which will kick off on August 12.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal will also be in America to play a couple of summer friendlies.
