Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur for a whopping £100 million.
The 30-year-old England striker has agreed terms with the German record champions and signed a four-year contract until June 30, 2027. He will wear the number 9 shirt that fell vacant after the departure of Robert Lewandowski in 2022.
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer welcomed Kane to the club and said that Kane is a top-quality player that will not only strengthen the club, but the Bundesliga as a whole.
“Welcome to Munich, Harry Kane! We’re very happy about this top-quality new arrival. The transfer required tenacity, bite and perseverance – my compliments to all those involved in these negotiations at FC Bayern, led by our CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. Harry Kane will not only strengthen FC Bayern, but also be a real asset to the entire Bundesliga,” Hainer said, according to Bayern Munich’s official website.
Club Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jan-Christian Dreesen echoed similar sentiments, saying that Kane was Bayern’s dream player right from the very start.
“It’s been a long process, but now we’re all the happier that Harry Kane will be wearing the Bayern Munich shirt with immediate effect. Harry Kane was our absolute dream player right from the start. He is a perfect fit for us and the club’s DNA in terms of both football and character,” Dreesen said.
Harry Kane, who is the record goal scorer for Tottenham with 280 goals in more than 400 matches, expressed his excitement after completing his medical earlier today and putting pen to paper for Bayern Munich.
“I’m very happy to be a part of FC Bayern now. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I’ve always said that I want to compete and prove myself at the highest level during my career. This club is defined by its winning mentality – it feels very good to be here,” Kane said as he went on to thanks Bayern Munich fans and staff for the warm welcome.
After his official unveiling, there is a chance that Kane could make his debut for Bayern Munich against RB Leipzig in the DFL Supercup match later today.
