As AC Milan await to face PSG in what promises to be a mouthwatering encounter in Group F on Wednesday, Olivier Giroud has revealed he’s coached his team mates on how to handle the French outfit especially Kylian Mbappe.
In what is considered by many as the ‘Group of Death’, the two sides will face off at Parc des Princes with Giroud’s AC Milan seeking for their first win in the Champions League this season.
While the hosts will be seeking to return to winning ways having beaten Dortmund 2-0 in their opening group game and lost miserably to Newcastle in their most recent Group encounter, Milan will be looking to register their first win.
The Rossoneri have not been on the losing end of things in the UCL this term, but have drawn both their opening two games, and currently find themselves placed 3rd with a couple of points.
“It is a special game for me, even if last time I was here, I hurt my ankle; I can’t wait to play,” Giroud who is France’s record goalscorer with 54 goals said in a press conference.
“I certainly gave some advice to my teammates, especially the defenders, because I know the attacking potential of PSG very well. If we want to have a great game, it must be played as a team.
“I have known Kylian a long time, we’ve been playing together for six years for France. We all know he is one of the best players in the world, but we are not only focused on him, as collectively PSG are a strong team.”
Ac Milan currently sit second in the Italian Serie A, and have netted sixteen times, but they are yet to find the back of the net in the Champions League.
Giroud insists the frustration of not having scored yet should fire them up to find their first goals in UCL.
“We created so many chances against Newcastle, but were unable to convert them. We must find that killer instinct and the frustration of not scoring yet has to fire us up even more. The next two games will be very important for qualification into the Round of 16.”
Newcastle top this group with four points. They will face Dortmund in the other Group F game.
