Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba will today find out the outcome of the counter-analysis on his positive drug test after several weeks of wait.
In a random drug test carried out after Juventus’s 3-0 victory over Udinese in August, Pogba showed higher than usual level of testosterone despite having been left on the bench in that game.
The 30-year old claimed his innocence and requested a counter-analysis on the incriminating urine sample to confirm the results.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Pogba will learn the results of the counter-analysis today, something which will have a big impact on his future and career.
If the positive results are confirmed, Pogba will be handed a four-year ban, although this could be reduced to two years on good faith.
Juventus will also be able to terminate Pogba’s contract which would save them around €30m, considering that his contract lasts until June 2026 and is worth €10m per season.
The Former Manchester United midfielder has been affected by injuries ever since he joined the club just over a year ago. He suffered a meniscus injury that kept him out for two months, before injuring his knee in November, an injury that saw him miss the World Cup in Qatar.
Having recovered from the knee injury, he finally made his second debut for Juve in a 4-2 win against Torino earlier this year. But a few weeks after, the Frenchman suffered a muscle injury in training and was ruled out for a month.
In his first game after returning from that injury, Pogba injured his left thigh lesion to end his season.
All in all, he has been restricted to only 8 Serie A games since his return to Italy in 2022.
