Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and Newcastle’s Eddie Howe are among the five coaches who have been nominated for the April’s Barclays Manger of the Month award.
Of all the five nominated managers, Guardiola relished perfect stint in April, with his Man City side securing five wins from five including their 4-1 victories against both Liverpool and Arsenal. These two results helped the Citizens take control of the Premier League title race.
Howe helped Newcastle win six of their seven games played in April, scoring 22 goals in that month including the 6-1 hammering of Tottenham Hotspur. The Magpies are now on the verge of UEFA Champions League qualification.
Emery meanwhile continued with his transformation of Aston Villa by helping his side win five games out of seven. This included victories over Newcastle (3-0) and Chelsea (2-0)
The other two nominated managers include Roy Hodgson and Gary O’Neil. Having returned to Crystal Palace, Hodgson helped the London side to four victories in 6 games.
O’Neil was also impressive with Bournemouth with five wins in seven matches including their dramatic 3-2 triumph at Spurs. With those five wins, Bournemouth is now safe from relegation.
