Chelsea won back-to-back Premier League games this season for the first time as they came from behind to thrash Burnley 4-1 at Turf Moor.
Coming into this game, Mauricio Pochettino was hoping to build some momentum going into the International break after their victory at Fulham on Monday night, and his team did exactly that on Saturday.
After coming down to Wilson Odobert’s early strike, the Blues responded with goals from Raheem Sterling, Nicholas Jackson Cole Palmer and an own goal to secure their third victory of the season.
Odobert put Burnley ahead in the 15th minute with a great strike following bad defending from Marc Cucurella who gifted the 18-year old space in the box.
But Chelsea got the leveller after an own goal from Ameen Al-Dakhil, who turned in Sterling’s cross into his own net in the 42nd minute.
And just five minutes into the second half, the Blues got ahead from the penalty spot after Sterling was fouled in the area by Vitinho. Palmer stepped up to send James Trafford the wrong way and score his first ever Premier League goal .
15 minutes later, after being involved in the first two goals, Sterling made it 3-1 after receiving a ball from Conor Gallagher.
Nicholas Jackson, who came off the bench for Armando Broja grabbed Chelsea’s fourth few moments later following good works by Sterling and Palmer who set him up.
Jackson had another chance to score his second of the evening, but opted for a wrong choice in passing the ball behind instead of shooting at goal.
Chelsea now move to 11 points with that victory. For Burnley, they drop to 18th with only four points since their promotion.
