The Premier League Manager of the Season nominees have been announced with Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Arsenal’s Mikel Arterta leading the way for the award.
In addition to the two who have been contesting for the title this season, Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, Newcastle’s Eddie Howe, Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and Fulham’s Marco Silva have also deservedly been nominated for this individual accolade.
Guardiola will be seen as the favourite for the award this season as the City boss is set to guide his side to a fifth Premier League title in six years and has done incredibly well to leapfrog and hold off a very good Arsenal side this season
All the other nominees would also be fully deserving of the award and it wouldn’t be surprising if any of them was announced as the winner on Tuesday 30 May.
Arterta has been in the title picture this season, Howe has done remarkable work in keeping Newcastle up in the Top four, De Zerbi could guide Brighton to a top-four finish this season, Emery has also been incredible with Aston Villa since he was appointed while Silva had done well in keeping Fulham up.
The list is a fairly accurate one but if there is one person who could feel hard done by for being left out, it is Erik Ten Hag. The Manchester United boss is in pole position to guide the Red Devil to a top-four finish and back in the Champions League in his first year.
Nevertheless, it is a great list but it is hard to see past the man top of the table at present.
The winner of this Award will be announced on Tuesday 30 May after a public vote has been combined with those of a penal of football experts.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is the current holder of this award after having beaten off Guardiola last season.
Sir Alex Ferguson holds the record for the most awards won by a single coach. The Scottish won 11 awards between 1994 and his retirement in 2013 – which accounted for more of the awards in that period of time.
