Manchester United failed to hold on onto their first half two-goal lead to draw 2-all with Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League game played on Thursday in London.
Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford gave United a two-goal lead but Spurs fought back in the closing half through Pedro Pooro and Heung-min Son for the score to finish tie at the end of the 90.
The Red Devils started off brightly and got their first goal as early as the seventh minute when Sancho received a ball from Rashford to cut inside and put his strike into the bottom-right corner.
Erik Ten Hag’s men continued their search for a second but got denied by Ivan Perisic in the 20th minute as the wingback rushed back onto the goal line to nod away Sancho’s deflected effort that had already beaten Fraser Forster, the Spurs goalkeeper.
On the other end, a few minutes later, David De Gea made a good save to deny Perisic scoring from a glancing header following Porro’s corner.
In the 39th minute, United came close again to getting their second only to still be denied by Forster, who made himself big to stop Rashford’s shot after a nice Bruno Fernandes dink
But at almost the stroke of halftime, United finally got their second with Fernandes feeding Rashford into space, for the latter to fire home after beating off Eric Dier.
Immediately after the break, Spurs almost pulled a goal back through Clement Lenglet but the defender looped his header onto the crossbar after rising highest inside the six-yard box.
With 10 minutes into second half though, Spurs got one back after a lovely hit by Porro who volleyed into the top-right corner after Kane’s initial close-range effort was blocked
Immediately after conceding, Fernandes almost restored United’s lead only to be denied by the Woodwork after ghosting his way into the box.
Spurs were unlucky not to level matters just after the hour mark as Son, with only De Gea to beat, agonizingly sliced his volley wide.
The hosts got unlucky again a couple minutes latter as Dier missed a sitter from close range after being picked up by Perisic
With eleven minutes to the end of the game, Son made up for his early miss to level matters for Spurs.
The South Korean was found unmarked at the back post by Kane to dink past De Gea and put the scores level.
United almost won the game late on but Casemiro headed wide a teasing Luke Shaw cross.
With two points dropped, United move to 60 points with six games left to play.
For Spurs, they stay fifth on the log with 54 points in 33 games.
