Newcastle United scored six times to humiliate Tottenham Hotspur 6-1 in the English Premier League game played on Sunday at St. James Park
Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak scored twice while Joelinton and Callum Wilson added one each for Newcastle who enlighten their UCL qualification hopes.
Harry Kane pulled one back for Spurs in the second half but that was so little to salvage a positive result for his side.
Newcastle started off brightly and got their first goal with just 62 second on the clock – with Murphy tapped in a loose ball after Joelinton’s shot was parried away by Hugo Lloris.
Five minutes later, Joelinton beat the offside trap to round off Lloris and double the Magpie’s lead.
Few seconds later, it was 3-0 for Newcastle after Murphy exquisitely struck form outside the box to beat Lloris.
Isak then came to party in the 19th minute when he slot home calmly after Joel Wilock’s pass.
Less than two minutes later, the Swedish striker got his second after beating Lloris from a tight angle.
Having conceded five goals in the opening half, Lloris got replaced by Fraser Forster at halftime in order to limit more damage.
Kane then pulled a goal back for Spurs in the 49th minute with a wonderful sole strike – first beating off Fabian Schar before scoring from a tight angle.
Wilson, who came off the bench for Isak then restored Newcastle’s lead after the 67th minute by poking home Miguel Almiron’s cross.
Newcastle could have gotten a seventh later on in the game but Anthony Gordon had his effort saved by Forster.
With the emphatic victory, Newcastle move back to third place with 59 points in 31 games.
For Spurs, they stay fifth with 53 points in 32 points. They are just third points above seventh-placed Liverpool, who have played a goal less and four points above 8th Brighton, who have played three games less.
