Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Sporting Advisor Luis Campos has held talks with Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta over the possibility of taking over the vacant managerial role.
According to French sports outlet RMC Sport, Luis Campos thinks Arteta’s game principles appeal to what PSG are building and it would be great if the Spaniard made the cross over the Chanel to Paris.
However, the publication also reported that these talks did not bear any fruits, as Arteta is still focused on the job at hand with Arsenal, where he is still contracted until June 30, 2025.
Arteta was able to guide Arsenal back to the Champions League where they had last played in 2017. Arteta has been heavily involved in contract extension talks with players like Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, and Gabriel Martinelli among others. This is a clear indication that he wants to carry on with his job at the Emirates.
However, that did not stop PSG from trying to pursue him. PSG’s managerial position became vacant at the end of the season after the club decided that Christophe Galtier will not carry on as head coach, after just one season at the club.
Other candidates for the job are former player Thiago Motta who’s currently managing Italian side Bologna and FC Porto’s Sérgio Conceição. Both managers have one year left on their contracts with their respective clubs.
