A few weeks ago, we reported how French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were planning to appoint Jose Mourinho as the manager to replace Christophe Galtier when this season ends. Well, contact between the two parties has been initiated.
According to French outlet RMC Sport, PSG Sports Advisor Luis Campos contacted Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes about brokering a deal between his club and his client that will see him take over the dugout bench at Parc des Princes starting next season.
It is believed that Mourinho would be interested in a move to Paris especially due to their almost unlimited budget, something that has limited his ability to recruit top talent at his current club AS Roma.
At PSG, it will be a matter of using the star-studded squad at his disposal and trying to fulfil the club’s long-time dream of winning the UEFA Champions League, a trophy that Mourinho won twice with FC Porto and Inter Milan in 2004 and 2010 respectively.
It should be noted that Mourinho and Campos share a long working relationship that dates back decades and although they last closely worked together during the Portuguese manager’s time at Real Madrid, they have maintained their friendship over the years.
There is still a long way to go, as Mourinho still has a contract with AS Roma until 2024 that PSG will have to buy out, and Campos still has to convince his Qatari bosses that Mourinho is the man to take over an ego-filled big-name dressing room.
