Portuguese forward Rafael Leao has signed a new contract at San Siro with AC Milan.
This was announced by the club on Friday evening, after the youngster had finished putting pen to paper on a contract that expires in June 2028.
“AC Milan is pleased to announce that Rafael Alexandre da Conceição Leão has renewed his contract with the Club until 30 June 2028.” read part of the statement released by Milan.
Since joining the club in the summer of 2019 from Lille, Leao has featured in 162 games in all competitions, scoring 41 goals and recording 29 assists.
He was named Serie A’s best player last season after helping the Rossoneri win the first Scudetto in 11 seasons.
He also played an integral role in guiding Milan to the UEFA Champions League semi-final, where they got beaten by city rivals, Inter Milan.
The release clause for Leao is reportedly €175m and his salary has been increased to €5m net per year + €2m in add ons.
Chelsea and Arsenal are some of the clubs who have expressed interest in the Portuguese forward in the past, but now will have to look elsewhere.
