Following his star performance against Luton Town that saw him net a brace, Raheem Sterling has revealed his targets for the season.
The English forward wants to become Chelsea’s top scorer this season while helping his side win games and have a brilliant season.
“It’s a target I had to set myself [being Chelsea’s top scorer this season], it’s something I know I can do. If I’m 100% at something, I know what I can do and that’s what I’m doing this year, just 100% focus on scoring goals and helping my team,” Sterling told Sky Sports after the Luton game.
“A lot happens in your career, a new challenge, coming into a challenge is difficult and your head can be a little bit blurry and sometimes you need that clear vision to see exactly what you want and my love for football is too much at this age, at 28, to kind of fizzle out.
“I want to make sure that I’m maintaining those standards that I have set myself for the last couple of years and keep going
The 28-year old has so far been impressive for Chelsea this season. He seems to have regained the form he had under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. He is now direct and plays with too much freedom on pitch.
His first goal against Luton showed exactly that! He picked the ball up wide on the right to dazzle through three defenders before firing into the bottom corner.
In his debut season for the Blues, Sterling scored six Premier League goals for a Chelsea side that found scoring so hard .
