Karim Benzema’s exit has put Real Madrid in desperate need of a new striker, and reports coming in indicate that they have made Harry Kane their top target.
Harry Kane has made his name at Tottenham Hotspur as a top marksman, scoring 280 goals in 435 appearances in all competitions. That firepower is what Real Madrid want to add to their squad next season.
Kane still has a year left on his contract at Tottenham and club chairman Daniel Levy is not in a rush to cash out on him but if the player puts in a transfer request, it is understood that Levy will ask upwards of £100 million for Kane.
Although Real Madrid are known to be big spenders, BBC.com reported that they could be reluctant to pay this much for the 29-year-old but their reluctance doesn’t mean they won’t if they have to.
Real Madrid’s interest, which is expected to come with a big salary along with a chance of winning some silverware, gives Kane a big decision to make.
While appearing in a Sky Sports interview last month, he admitted that he would like to break Alan Shearer’s all-time top-scorer Premier League record. He only has to score 48 more goals.
To achieve this, he will have to reject Real Madrid’s advances and stay in England. Manchester United have shown interest in signing Kane too so they could become his top priority.
In the event that Real Madrid don’t get Kane, they have Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic on their radar.
