Real Madrid are reportedly willing to commit £200 million to sign their number 1 target Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain (PSG).
Talks over the French star between the two clubs didn’t even get started this summer despite PSG freezing him out for a time.
The 24-year-old was later reintegrated into the squad and has already scored five goals from three Ligue 1 matches. Mbappe is still committed to seeing out his contract at PSG and then move to his dream destination, Real Madrid.
According to Spanish sports outlet Sport.es, Real Madrid intend to reach a pre-contract agreement with Mbappe in January 2024 so he can join them as a free agent when his contract with PSG expires on June 30, 2024.
Real Madrid first approached PSG for the signature of Mbappe in the 2022/2023 summer transfer window but the French outfit quickly brushed off Real Madrid’s advances for the player and even tied him to a new mouthwatering two-year contract.
Real Madrid, who reportedly bid over £175 million, decided to be patient and trusted Mbappe to resist any other contract renewals with PSG and move to the Spanish capital.
This plan looks to be on course and it is this money and more that they will pay the France international in June next year. Los Blancos have not even signed a replacement for Karim Benzema and it is believed they are leaving this place open for Mbappe.
Even without a central striker, Real Madrid have started the season well, thanks to summer signing Jude Bellingham’s blistering form that has seen him score in the first four matches of the 2023/24 La Liga season.
