Real Madrid and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement to terminate the player’s contract at the end of this month.
This means that Hazard will become a free agent after June 30, even though he still had a year left on his contract with the Spanish giants.
Hazard moved to Real Madrid four years ago from Chelsea in a deal that could have risen to £130 million if all bonus payments were paid. But they were not, because the Belgian international suffered several injuries and a poor run of form saw him make just 76 appearances, scored seven goals and made 12 assists.
He made just 10 appearances in all competitions this 2022/23 season.
However, this did not stop him from winning eight trophies during this period which include two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and one Champions League title.
“Real Madrid CF and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will be released from the club as of June 30, 2023. Hazard has been part of our club for four seasons, in which he has won eight titles: one European Cup, one Club World Cup, one European Super Cup, two leagues, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.
“Real Madrid wants to express its affection for Eden Hazard and wishes him and his entire family the best of luck in this new stage.” a statement from Real Madrid published on their official website partly reads.
Hazard joins a list of players that are leaving Real Madrid this season that includes Mariano and Marco Asensio.
