Chelsea left-back Reece James has been ruled out for the rest of the 2022/23 season.
This was confirmed by Chelsea’s interim manager Frank Lampard during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Reece James will be unavailable for the rest of the season” said Lampard.
“Reece had a hamstring injury in the midweek game.He got through it but then had a scan and he’s out.
The Left-back’s last game was against Real Madrid last Tuesday where he featured for 90 minutes as the Blues lost 2-0 to the Los Blacos in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
He has featured in only 24 games this season, scoring and assisting twice.
Along with James, Mason Mount is also unlikely to feature in the final seven games due to pelvis injury.
“Mason Mount the same. He has been carrying a pelvic injury for a while. It predates myself and he has been trying typically but he will have minor surgery, then a four-week recovery.
“He [Mount] might make the last match but that’s unlikely, which is obviously disappointing for us.”
Chelsea has lost all four games Lampard has been in charge since he was named interim manager until the end of the season to replace Graham Potter.
