Romelu Lukaku has completed his season-long loan move from Chelsea to Roma.
The Belgium striker joins former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in Rome after both clubs agreed on a season-long deal.
“The welcome I’ve received from this club and its fans has excited me and given me even more motivation to give my all for my new team,” Lukaku told Roma media.
“As an opponent, I felt the atmosphere of the Stadio Olimpico, and felt the warmth of the Romanisti.
“It’s nice to know I’m a part of it today. I recently got the opportunity to speak with the owners, and I was impressed by their ambition. Now we must work, be humble, and grow game by game. For my part, I can’t wait to be available to my teammates both on and off the pitch.”
Lukaku has all the summer been seeking for a permanent move away from Chelsea, but Inter and Juventus weren’t able to sign him due to the transfer fee the Blues demanded.
He also had offers from Saudi Arabia which he rejected as he wanted to stay in Europe.
His deal at Roma does not include an option or an obligation for the Serie A Side to make the move permanent, so he will most probably be back at Chelsea next summer.
This is the second loan move that Lukaku in Italy after he was on loan at Inter last season when he scored 10 goals in 25 appearances.
