Mauricio Pochettino is one of the reasons youngster Romeo Lavia completed his dream move to Chelsea from Southampton.
This was revealed by the 19-year old in his first interview as a Chelsea player on Friday morning.
In his words, Lavia praises the Argentine and says he is really excited to start work with him .
“First of all, Mauricio Pochettino is a great manager,” Lavia told the Chelsea website in his first interview
“I think we all know what he’s done before, and when I spoke to him, it was pretty clear on what he wanted and the direction he wanted the team to go, so I was really pleased to hear what he wanted, and his energy was something that matched mine.
“I’m really excited to start working with him.”
The 19-year old rejected Liverpool to join Chelsea on a seven-year employment contract for a reported £58 million fee from Southampton, and now becomes the club’s 11th signing of the window, having also signed Moises Caicedo (£115m), Christopher Nkunku (£52m), Axel Disasi (£38.8m), Nicolas Jackson (£32m), Robert Sanchez (£25m), Lesley Ugochukwu (£23.1m), Angelo Gabriel, Ishe Samuels-Smith, Diego Moreira and Alex Matos (all undisclosed).
He is expected to make his debut against West Ham on Sunday evening and will battle with Enzo Fernandez, Caicedo, Conor Gallagher, Andrey Santos and Lesley Ogochukwu for a starting spot in Chelsea midfield.
