Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed that the Saudi Arabian League will in five years to come be the fourth most competitive in the world.
The five-time Ballon D’or winner penned a two-year-deal with Al-Nassar in January after seeing his contract at Manchester United terminated due to a controversial interview he conducted with Piers Morgan that criticized both United manager Erik Ten Hag and the club.
Speaking to BeIN Sports, Ronaldo said: “I’m in a very competitive league. They should look at the Saudi Championship differently.
“Obviously, It’s not like the Premier League, I’d be lying if I said it was, but it’s competitive. I’m surprised at the strength. It has good teams, It’s balanced, Arab players are good, the foreign players give quality.
“It will possibly be, in five or six years time, If they continue with this plan, the fourth or fifth most competitive league in the World.”
Since joining the club, Ronaldo has scored nine goals. His ninth was a freekick which came right before the international break.
The 38-year-old said this while on international duty with his country Portugal. On his call up to the national team, he said; “I feel really good . That’s why I’m here. If I didn’t think about it, I wouldn’t be here”
Ronaldo scored a brace in both Portugal’s Euro 2024 Qualifiers opening games.
