Scott McTominay came off the bench in the 87th minute to score two stoppage-time goals as Manchester United come from behind to beat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford.
With everything pointing to a third consecutive loss at home, McTominay put United level in the 93rd minute before grabbing the winner in the 97th minute.
Mathias Jensen had earlier put Brentford ahead in the first half following a series of United errors.
Casemiro first gave the ball away in the midfield before Victor Lindelof failed to clear after Yoane Wissa drove into the box.
Andre Onana then should have dealt with Jensen’s shot, but he let the ball squirm under his body to give Brentford an easy goal.
With that goal, Brentford were resilient and came so close to a first win at Old Trafford since 1937. But McTominay, who had come on for Sofyan Amrabat had other ideas.
The Scottish levelled matters after being first to react to a rebound following Diogo Dalot’s shot.
McTominay then planted a header past Thomas Strakosha for the winner following a free kick from Harry Maguire. It was a goal that sent Old Trafford into frenzy.
Before the goals, McTominay had a goal denied by VAR in 89th minute after Antony Martial was judged to be offside in the build-up.
Brentford also before the two goals had a couple of chances to extend their lead, but got denied by Onana and Dalot
The United’s fullback hammered clear Kristoffer Ajer’s effort off the line in the 55th minute, before Onana made two brilliant stops to deny Norgaard and Neil Maupay.
This win ends a run of back-to-back United defeats at home for United. It also lifts them to the ninth position on the table with 12 points while Brentford stay 14th with seven points.
