Victor Osimhen is in the form of his life. The Nigeria international scored twice as SSC Napoli beat Torino 4-0 to move 19 points at the top of the Serie A table.
The other goals were scored by Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskheila and on-loan Tanguy Ndombele.
Napoli have 71 points from 27 matches and are only five wins away from winning the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years, and are on course to produce the first African Serie A golden boot winner in Osimhen, who is the current top scorer with 21 goals in 23 matches.
S.S Lazio moved into second with a dramatic victory over Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma that saw three players sent off; Adam Marusic for Lazio, Roger Ibanez and Bran Cristante for Roma after they were involved in a scuffle in the 97th minute.
Lazio are now unbeaten in the last five matches but this was Roma’s second consecutive defeat, a result that has stopped them from breaking into the top four places that qualify for Champions League football.
Inter Milan are currently on a poor run of form and fell 1-0 to Juventus last night in a match that also saw both teams lose players to red cards for failing to control their cool in the 98th minute.
This second consecutive defeat left Inter Milan in third on the table but Juventus’ position remain unchanged in seventh with 41 points from 27 matches.
Juventus are still seven points away from Champions League places even though AC Milan, who are currently fourth, lost to eighth-placed Udinese.
The Rossoneri have not won in three successive matches and this poor run of form could cost them Champions League football as we enter the final stage of the season.
