As it’s been widely reported for several months now, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar Group is one of the frontrunners to buy Manchester United from the Glazer Family in a deal valued more than £5 billion, with negotiations in the third and final round now.
Sheikh Jassim’s 100% takeover will see the billionaire banker aim to return Manchester United to glory days through player recruitment among other initiatives and according to MailSport, French star Kylian Mbappe is the top transfer target for Sheikh Jassim.
Reports indicate that Sheikh Jassim wants to bring Mbappe to Manchester United as he embarks on building a star-studded squad that will challenge for domestic and continental glory.
It is worth noting that Mbappe will not come cheap, as he signed a deal worth more than £400 million at PSG last summer running until June 2024, which also made him one of the highest-paid footballers in the world.
The good thing is that money is the least of problems Sheikh Jassim’s group has and they are ready to splash big to secure the signature of one of the best players in world football now.
The switch to England is welcome to Mbappe’s fans and critics who have long asked him to challenge himself in a league bigger than the French Ligue 1, and it would be exciting for fans to see him going toe-to-toe with Erling Haaland, who has already taken the Premier League by storm breaking record after record.
Manchester United’s opposition in pursuit of Mbappe’s signature could be Spanish giants Real Madrid, who are long-term admirers of the 24-year-old World Cup winner.
