Monza President, ex-Ac Milan owner and former Italy Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi has died aged 86 at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan.
This announcement was released on Monday morning from the hospital where Berlusconi had been admitted on Friday to undergo medical test related to the Leukaemia he had previously been battling.
Berlusconi first purchased the Rossoneri in 1986 and turned the club into one of the best in Europe. He built a team which dominated Europe in the late 80s and early 90s.
During that period, Milan won three European Cups/ UEFA Champions Leagues, four Seria A titles and two intercontinental Cups.
Before selling the club to Rossoneri Sport Luxembourg in 2017 for a reported €740m, Milan had won a total of 29 trophies under him. This included eight Scudetti, four Supercoppa, five European Cups/Champions Leagues, five European Super Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, one Club World Cup and one Coppa Italia
After selling Milan, Berlusconi purchased Monza in 2018 and helped them earn promotion from Serie C all the way up to Serie A, where they remain to this day having had a successful 2022/23 season.
Berlusconi was also a media tycoon and politician who first came to office as Prime Minister in 1994, holding the position in four different spells up until the last time in 2011.
