Legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson is pleased with the way Erik Ten Hag is going about business at Manchester United in his debut season as the club manager.
Ten Hag who was appointed the Man United manager in April last year guided the Red Devils to their first trophy in six years on Sunday when United beat Newcastle 2-0 to lift the Carabao Cup.
Ferguson, a perennial winner in his days at Man United was in attendance at Wembley Stadium as the Dutchman guided his former side to glory.
Speaking to SkySports, the Scot who won a record 38 trophies with Man United said;
“United is based on success and he’s gone the right way about it. His signings have been really good – I think that was important – and he’s got a grip of the club which is really big for him.
“You come to United and you try to get off to a good start right away. He’s done really well, he really has.”
Ten Hag’s work in his first season at Old Trafford has been made easy by the form of Marcus Rashford. The 25-year-old is currently relishing an enviable form that has seen him notch 17 goals in 19 games since his return from the World Cup.
Ferguson is loving what he is seeing from the academy product, but insists United need not rely on only him.
He said: “He is fantastic, his finishing is always good and he always keeps his shots down which is really important for a striker. He’s in a great vein of form. Unfortunately for us, he’s the main source of goals, we could do with an extra one. But he is doing it.”
After the Carabao Cup success, Man United will now turn attention to their next engagement which is the Premier League game against struggling Liverpool.
The two long-term rivals face-off on Sunday at Anfield where United will look to continue with their surge up the table.
